Sometimes I love to laugh at the way people use and modify words — making them their own creation — regardless if they even make sense. I met up with my mother for lunch today. She called me just before noon and says that I should "just meet her at Luce's."
I love it. The unnecessary addition of possessive and plural parts to words - most commonly misplaced on restaurants and food/drink establishments. It seems like it would be something native to Minnesotan's with goofy accents and no sense of style, so I'll go with it. They are the kind of people that talk about movies and current events 6 months after they happen. Or they shop at Kohl's & JCPenny because they can save 10% if they show up before 9 AM on Saturday morning. Or they use Comic Sans, color: red, as the default font on their computer because they can. Not that my mother is [all of] those things, or that any of this is wrong, but it makes me laugh, and it's what gets me through the day.
So, Want to go to Subway's tomorrow? I'm going to Buca's for dinner, or maybe Cub's. They have a great deli.
Scratch that. Benihana's.
