Dear Minnesota: Cut It Out

I don't understand why people feel the need to consistently under-dress themselves in obviously extreme weather conditions. I'm not talking about the ridiculous weather today itself. That'd be useless. I'm talking about shorts in the snow.

Making my way home through the snow globe after work, I noticed a kid waiting for the bus in nothing but shorts and a t-shirt. Listen brat, take a look around you. IT IS SNOWING. AND IT IS COLD. Spring was here yesterday, but it didn't shut the door on its way out this morning.

Then I just laughed — because, first of all I shouldn't have been surprised to see this in my neighborhood. But then I remembered the Stuff White People Like post a few weeks ago. White people like shorts. It's a fact. We get a whiff of spring in late march, and remain ignorant until all of our white worries have melted away. They said it better, so I won't elaborate further. But listen friends, dress for the now, not the yesterday.

but, I suppose if you have to, knock yourself out.
